1 Who We Are
ChargeGrant ("we," "us," or "our") is an EV charging station intelligence platform operated in India. We provide operators, investors, and entrepreneurs with tools, reports, and filing services to plan, finance, and deploy EV charging infrastructure across India.

2 Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories depending on how you interact with our platform:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account & Registration: Full name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
- Free Tool Inputs: State selection, location type, charger type, capacity (kW), number of guns, investment amount, electricity cost, and usage assumptions entered into our Subsidy Checker, Revenue Estimator, or other tools. This data is used solely to generate your requested output.
- Invest & Franchise Form: Full name, email, phone, city, investment range, timeline, land availability, land size, land ownership type, pincode, preferred location, and any notes you add voluntarily.
- Filing Service Orders: Project details, DISCOM jurisdiction, site address, supporting documents (e.g., electricity bills, NOC copies, land documents) that you upload for DISCOM, subsidy, or BEE filing services.
- Payment Details: Billing name and address. We do not store card numbers โ all payments are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway partner.
- Communications: Emails, support tickets, or feedback messages you send us.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Pages visited, tools used, time spent, clicks, and navigation paths.
- Device & Technical Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, screen resolution, and referral URL.
- Cookies & Similar Technologies: Session cookies, preference cookies, and analytics identifiers. See Section 7 for full details.
- Transaction Logs: Records of paid report purchases, service orders, and download history associated with your account.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Payment confirmation data from our payment gateway (e.g., Razorpay).
- Analytics aggregates from tools like Google Analytics (anonymised).
- Referral source information if you arrived via a partner link.
3 How We Use Your Data
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To Provide Our Services: Run the Subsidy Checker, Revenue Estimator, DISCOM Tariff Directory, and other free tools; generate and deliver paid reports (BoQ, ROI, Subsidy Reports); fulfil filing service orders; and manage your account.
- To Process Payments: Verify transactions, issue invoices and GST receipts, and prevent fraud.
- To Communicate: Send order confirmations, service updates, filing status notifications, tariff/scheme alerts (if subscribed), and respond to support queries.
- To Personalise: Remember your state, charger preferences, and past tool inputs to improve usability.
- To Improve the Platform: Analyse usage trends, identify bugs, test new features, and improve tool accuracy with aggregated, anonymised data.
- To Send Marketing (with consent): Newsletters, EV industry updates, and promotional offers โ only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Maintain transaction records as required by GST law, respond to lawful government or regulatory requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- For Franchise/Investment Matching: Use the information from your Invest & Franchise form to connect you with relevant EPC partners, CPOs, or investment co-ordination internally.
We will never sell your personal data to data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for their independent commercial use.
4 Legal Basis for Processing
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), we process your personal data on the following bases:
- Consent: For marketing communications, optional cookies, and processing data entered into our free tools where no account exists.
- Contractual Necessity: To perform a paid service or filing order you have placed with us.
- Legitimate Interests: For platform security, fraud prevention, analytics, and product improvement โ where these interests are not overridden by your privacy rights.
- Legal Obligation: For GST compliance, invoice retention, and responding to valid government requests.
5 Data Sharing & Disclosure
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
5.1 Service Providers (Data Processors)
We engage trusted third-party vendors who act as data processors under our instructions:
Payment Gateway (e.g. Razorpay)
Cloud Hosting (e.g. AWS / GCP)
Email Delivery (e.g. SendGrid)
Analytics (Google Analytics)
SMS / OTP Verification
These processors are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the stated purpose.
5.2 Filing Service Partners
For DISCOM Connection, Subsidy Filing, or BEE Empanelment services, we may share relevant project documents and contact information with empanelled consultants or our EPC service network โ solely to fulfil your order. These partners are bound by confidentiality agreements.
5.3 Legal Disclosures
We may disclose your data if required to do so by law, court order, or a legitimate regulatory authority under applicable Indian law. We will notify you where legally permitted to do so.
5.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity. You will be notified in advance, and the new entity will be bound by this policy or one offering equivalent protection.
We do not share your data with government subsidy portals, DISCOMs, or BEE without your explicit instruction as part of a filed service order.
6 Payments & Financial Data
All payment transactions on ChargeGrant are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway partner. We do not store, log, or have access to your full credit/debit card number, CVV, or UPI PIN. We retain only:
- Transaction ID and payment status (success/failure)
- Amount paid and date of transaction
- Billing name and contact email (for GST invoice generation)
- GST number if provided voluntarily for B2B invoicing
Transaction records are retained for 8 years as required under Indian tax law.
7 Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for login sessions, cart/order management, and CSRF protection. Cannot be disabled.
- Functional Cookies: Remember your state preference, last tool used, and display settings.
- Analytics Cookies: Collect anonymised data via Google Analytics to understand page performance and user flows. You may opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-Out add-on.
- Marketing Cookies: Used only if you have explicitly consented. Disabled by default.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies will not affect access to our free tools or paid services.
8 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Account Data: Retained for the lifetime of your active account, plus 2 years after account deletion (for dispute resolution).
- Tool Inputs (Free Tools): Session-only; not retained beyond your browser session unless you are logged in, in which case retained for up to 12 months for convenience.
- Paid Report Data & Filing Documents: Retained for 5 years from delivery to support follow-up queries and refund processing.
- Transaction Records: Retained for 8 years as required by GST and income tax law.
- Marketing Consent Records: Retained until you withdraw consent, plus 1 year thereafter as proof of prior consent.
- Support Communications: Retained for 3 years.
Upon account deletion, we anonymise or delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is legally required.
9 Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures, including:
- TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption of sensitive data fields at rest
- Role-based access controls limiting employee access to personal data
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Secure cloud infrastructure with reputable hosting providers
- Two-factor authentication option for registered accounts
Despite these measures, no digital system is 100% immune to breaches. In the event of a data breach that poses a significant risk to your rights, we will notify you and, where applicable, the relevant authority as required under the DPDP Act, 2023.
10 Your Rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, and as a ChargeGrant user, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: Request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: Contact our Grievance Officer (see Section 14) with any data-related complaint and receive a response within 30 days.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw marketing or analytics consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Right to Nominate: Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

11 Children's Privacy
ChargeGrant is a B2B intelligence platform intended for adults (18+) engaged in EV infrastructure investment, operation, or related professional activities. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data through our platform, please contact us immediately at support@chargegrant.com and we will delete it promptly.
12 Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to external government portals (e.g., BEE, FAME, state DISCOM websites), industry resources, or partner websites. These are provided for informational purposes. ChargeGrant has no control over and takes no responsibility for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.
13 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify registered users by email for significant changes
- Display a notice on the platform for at least 14 days following the update
Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
